Gdynia – Replicator city in Poland

Gdynia is part of the Tricity metropolitan area on the Baltic coast, combining a major seaport, industrial and logistics areas, dense urban districts and expanding peri-urban zones. The wider functional area is shaped by port-related activities, commuter flows between cities and surrounding municipalities, and valuable coastal and forest ecosystems.

Key challenges

The Gdynia Replicator will draw on the experiences of port and logistics oriented TSLLs to shape its own integrated transition pathways. It will:

Developing multimodal hubs with PV installations in parking areas and implementing 4 new bus lanes by 2035 to enhance sustainable transport options and accessibility under the Mobility as a Right paradigm.

Conducting feasibility studies and piloting power-and-storage solutions for EV charging and public transport integration, with PV infrastructure in Park & Ride hubs.

And expand the sustainable transport modal split to increase renewable energy use across the transport sector.

Engaging 5 companies or institutions per year in schemes that offset 100 tonnes of CO₂ per year, accelerating climate compensation in peri-urban industrial areas.

To support the development of energy communities for climate-neutral transition strategies across the peri-urban area.

To foster collaborative climate-neutral solutions, creating a TSLL community contact point with focus groups on both mobility and RECs.

And integratie TEN-T requirements into the Metropolitan Tri-City Area SUMP by 2040.
