ALTHEA places peri-urban areas at the backbone of Europe’s transition to climate neutrality, building on the Transition Super Living Lab (TSLL) approach. TSLLs are multi-stakeholder ecosystems that connect cities and their surrounding territories to co-design, test and scale climate neutral solutions across mobility, energy, industry and governance.
ALTHEA TSLL’s
In ALTHEA, five TSLLs implement 59 interventions that directly support Mission Cities’ Climate City Contracts and Local Green Deals. These interventions are powered by 21 data-driven innovations, the ALTHEA Innovations Toolkit, which helps optimise transport networks, decarbonise energy systems, green industrial activities, and strengthen cross-sector governance.
ALTHEA Replicators
Alongside the TSLLs, three Replicator sites work as “follow-on labs”, learning from the demonstrations and preparing tailored transition plans so that proven solutions can be transferred and scaled across Europe’s peri-urban areas.
