Greater Copenhagen municipalities Høje‑Taastrup (HTK) and Lyngby‑Taarbæk (LTK) play an important role in the Capital Region of Denmark’s green transition. Located along the Scandinavian–Mediterranean TEN‑T corridor, they are closely connected to Copenhagen through strong daily commuter flows that shape regional mobility. Both municipalities are advancing local decarbonisation efforts through initiatives such as solar energy expansion, district heating upgrades, and collaborative innovation programs developed in partnership with universities and regional stakeholders.
Despite solid progress, HTK and LTK still face governance and infrastructure challenges in peri‑urban station areas, where fragmented ownership can slow coordinated development. To address this, both municipalities are developing modern multimodal hubs that integrate new light‑rail connections, shared electric mobility options, and renewable‑energy systems. These efforts strengthen Greater Copenhagen’s broader ambitions for greener mobility and support the region’s long‑term goal of building a fossil‑free, resilient energy system.

What the Replicator will address through ALTHEA
The Greater Copenhagen Replicator will follow ALTHEA’s blueprint and innovations toolkit to observe how peri-urban mobility, energy and governance solutions demonstrated in the TSLLs could potentially inspire and inform its own pathway toward climate neutrality. It will focus on:
Transforming station nodes into multimodal hub
Aiming for a 10% increase in overall sustainable transport modes, with improved bike parking and station layouts to support multimodality.
Decarbonising last-mile logistics for SMEs
Through collaborative schemes for logistics service providers targeting 20% electrified last-mile deliveries, and formalised public-private partnership channels for SMEs to align with net-zero goals.
Testing local renewable energy models
Including power-and-storage solutions for EV charging and flexible self-consumption or pay-as-you-save energy schemes in peri-urban areas.
Establishing a cross-stakeholder governance body
Bringing all relevant stakeholders together in a single, coordinated planning framework for the peri-urban municipalities.
